St. Leonard's Church.

   Lipnica Murowana is the land of churches and saints. There are 4 beautiful churches in parish. That is a place of origin of: Bl. Simon of Lipnica, St. Ursula Ledochowska and Bl. Maria and Teresa Ledochowska. St. Leonard's church, as one of the oldest and best preserved Gothic wooden churches. was inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage List on the 5th of July 2003 which places it next to the most precious world historic sights.
   According to tradition the biulding of the first church was started in 1141 on the place of the former Slavonic pagan temple of which an oak post, carved into Swiatowid's head, has been preserved until nowadays. The origin of the contemporary building is dated for 15th century while in the 16th century the so-called "soboty" (outside arcades covered with a pent) were added. The interior of the church is decorated magnificently on ceilings and walls the painting of which occurred in stages between the 15th century and 1711. The most interesting subjects are: The Final Judgement, The Last Supper, The Passion of Christ, The Passion, The Decaloque. The altars are adorned with three triptychs depicting the patron of the church - St. Leonard, The Adoration of The Infant and St. Nicilas. The choir holds an exceptional organ instrument, a so-called casket-positive from 17th century.
